How do I get a list of remaining Wordle answers?

  1. Download Sordle on iPhone or iPad with iOS 18 or later.
  2. Enter a guess you already played in Wordle.
  3. Tap each tile to match Wordle’s feedback. Repeat for your other guesses.
  4. Check the remaining solutions, try your next guess in Wordle, and add its feedback.

Sordle is a solving aid; play Wordle separately. It filters its own word lists and does not fetch today’s answer from The New York Times. A dictionary can differ from the current game, so a matching word is a candidate, not a guaranteed answer.

Why do repeated letters change the answer list?

Green fixes a letter in that position. Yellow puts it elsewhere. Gray rules out that occurrence. If one copy of a repeated letter is green or yellow and another is gray, the word may still contain that letter—just fewer copies.

Sordle checks the full feedback pattern, including repeated letters. If no answers remain, recheck every tile and earlier guess.

How does a Wordle solver use Shannon entropy?

For each possible guess, Sordle groups the remaining answers by the color pattern they would produce. It treats those candidate answers as equally likely and calculates H = −Σ p log₂(p), where p is each group’s share of the remaining answers.

Guess A gives more information on average because it splits the possibilities evenly. A higher score means more expected information, not a higher chance of being today’s answer or a guaranteed win. 3Blue1Brown’s explanation walks through the idea.

A ranked guess can be useful for testing letters even when it is not a remaining answer. Sordle separates candidate solutions from other allowed guesses. Get help with the solver.
