What should I check when visits are missing?

  1. Show the whole list. Open Maps → Places → Visited Places → All Visits. Clear date, category, or city filters.
  2. Check location access. In Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Maps, enable Precise Location and Visited Places where offered. Under System Services, enable Significant Locations & Routes. Apple’s setup instructions.
  3. Check Keep Visits. A retention limit may have removed older entries. Setting it to Forever keeps future records longer; it does not restore deleted ones.
  4. Check the place name. A visit may be under a nearby business. Use the place’s menu → Wrong Location to correct it. Apple’s Visited Places guide.

Apple says you must enable the feature and visit a place before entries appear. Its guide does not promise a complete record of every stop. A gap alone cannot tell you which setting or detection issue caused it.

How do I get Visited Places in the EU?

As of October 25, 2026, Apple’s availability list does not include Germany, France, or Ireland. It does include some other European locations, such as the UK, Norway, and Switzerland. Check your country rather than assuming all of Europe has the same support.

For a separate visit history, Visited Places Beta is available in those three EU App Stores. It builds its own timeline using your iPhone’s location updates. Installing it does not enable Apple Maps’ regional feature or import Apple’s records.

How do I start my own visit timeline?

  1. Download Visited Places Beta on an iPhone running iOS 26 or later.
  2. Open the app, then allow Always location access and enable Precise Location.
  3. Check the map and timeline as new visits arrive. Entries show arrival, departure, and time spent.

History starts after setup. The app is still a beta: iOS can delay or miss visits, and nearby businesses can be matched incorrectly. Visit detection help.
